Creighton point guard Maurice Watson has been charged with first degree sexual assault with a bail set at $750,000. Watson allegedly forced a 19-year-old girl into having nonconsensual sex. The disturbing details can be read at the Omaha World-Herald.

If convicted, Watson faces up to 50 years in prison.

Watson, a senior who saw his college career end after suffering a torn ACL in January, was suspended from all athletic-related events at Creighton on Feb. 13. He has also been barred from participating in the Bluejays’ senior day festivities on Feb. 28. He is no longer enrolled at the school.

On the morning of Feb. 4, Omaha police were called to a local hospital where a woman had told doctors that she had been forced into non-consensual sex in the bathroom of her home earlier that morning. Omaha police confirmed that the man accused of committing the crime was Watson.

Before his season ended, Watson was averaging 12.9 points and 8.5 assists per game, the highest assist average in the country. The 23rd-ranked Bluejays have gone 4-5 since his injury.
