With five weeks until Selection Sunday, Syracuse entered the week with its NCAA tournament hopes on thin ice. Our latest Bracketology projection had the Orange as the second-to-last team in the field and playing in the First Four as a No. 11 seed.
Syracuse hits buzzer-beater 3 to stun Clemson, save NCAA tournament hopes
Freshman Tyus Battle saved the day for Syracuse — and maybe the season.
Needless to say, ‘Cuse can’t afford to drop any more winnable games, which made beating Clemson on Tuesday night paramount.
It was a close contest all night and it came down to the final seconds. The Tigers took a two-point lead with seven seconds left when Donte Grantham hit a jumper, but ‘Cuse had one more chance. You know what happens next:

That’s freshman Tyus Battle at the buzzer for the win. Syracuse is unkillable and this is probably the first step to another long NCAA tournament run. They did it last year. Why would why anyone ever doubt Jim Boeheim again?
The radio call is pretty great, too:
“BOOM!”
And yes, there’s still time to buy a “Kiss Our Asterisk” t-shirt from our wonderful ‘Cuse community, Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician. Might as well do it now.
