Akron’s Isaiah Johnson drained the heaviest buzzer-beater of the season

What’s the basketball equivalent of the Peisman Trophy? We need to know, because we have a winner. Akron beat Ball State at the buzzer on Tuesday night thanks to this buzzer-beater by center Isaiah Johnson. Johnson is listed at 6’10, 290 pounds, so we’re calling this the heaviest buzzer-beater of the year.
Akron, by the way, is really good: 20-4 overall and 10-1 in the conference. LeBron’s team just missed the NCAA tournament last year and they will be the favorites in the MAC heading into the postseason tournament.
The only bummer is that Johnson had his foot on the line for the game-winner. It could have been the second three-pointer of his career.
