The award for the weirdest game of the night goes to VCU-George Washington — which is saying something. The Rams walked away with a 54-53 win, but not before a frantic final sequence caused one of college basketball’s craziest endings this year.
George Washington hits would-be buzzer-beater, but loses on foul call after time added to clock
George Washington lost in the most unimaginable way possible.
George Washington was down two on its final possession when junior guard Yuta Watanabe hit the go-ahead three-pointer as time seemed to expire.

The referees decided to put 0.4 seconds back on the clock, which shouldn’t have been enough time for VCU to get off a clean look while inbounding the ball under its own basket.
But ... George Washington was whistled for a foul while defending the inbounds pass, and VCU got two free throws out of it.

JeQuan Lewis made the shots and VCU escaped with the most unlikely win imaginable.
VCU moves to 19-5 and 9-2 in the conference. George Washington, the hard luck loser, is now 12-12 overall and 4-7 in the conference.
