Though comprising a full eight teams in the conference, the Ivy League has never before held a league tournament to decide its NCAA Tournament auto-bid recipient. That all changed here in 2017, as the first-ever Ivy League Tournament, held at the Palestra in Philadelphia, ended with the Princeton Tigers taking home the title and the tournament bid. They defeated Yale for the championship.
Ivy League basketball tournament 2017: Bracket, schedule, and scores
The first-ever Ivy League basketball tournament tips off Saturday in Philadelphia.

The Tigers were the heavy favorites of the field of four, having run roughshod over the rest of the league during the regular season. Mitch Henderson’s club tore through an undefeated 14-0 conference record and ended the season on a 17-0 run. The Tigers last lost to Monmouth — who should be in this year’s Big Dance but won’t — on Dec. 20, an impressive feat of consistent domination down the stretch.
Princeton opened the tourney with No. 4 seed Penn in the first round, while Harvard played and lost to Yale.
The format
The Ivy League takes the top four teams of its eight members and seeds them into a two-round bracket. No. 1 Princeton and No. 4 Penn play first, then they clear the floor for No. 2 Harvard and No. 3 Yale. The championship game is Sunday, March 12 at noon ET on ESPN2.
