Syracuse’s NIT opener against UNC-Greensboro, originally scheduled to take place Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. ET before being postponed due to a snow storm in New York, will be played Wednesday, March 15 at 7 p.m., according to a release from Syracuse. The game will be carried on ESPN2.
New rivals Syracuse, UNC Greensboro finally play Wednesday after being snowed out
One of the most anticipated NIT matchups was delayed due to snow.

“After consultation with Onondaga County and City of Syracuse authorities, as well as the NCAA, and with fan and participant safety the top priority, tonight’s NIT game between Syracuse and UNCG has been postponed due to area weather conditions,” the release read. Syracuse is expected to receive 8-12 inches of snow.
The game is arguably the one that most people are looking forward to because of comments made by Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim last week about the city of Greensboro.
Boeheim said, “There’s no value to playing in Greensboro. None.” It resulted in the city having a scorching rebuttal on Twitter. On Sunday when Syracuse was matched up to play UNCG, it was nearly as exciting as seeing the NCAA tournament bracket unveiled.
And after waiting one night longer than expected, UNCG has the chance to represent their city against Boeheim and the Orange. The winner of this matchup will face Ole Miss, who advanced Tuesday to the second round of the NIT after defeating Monmouth, 91-83.
