On Thursday evening, the West Region of the NCAA tournament will feature an in-state battle between the No. 3 Florida State Seminoles and the No. 14 Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles. The game will take place in Orlando with the winner facing either Xavier or Maryland on Saturday.

Florida State finished the regular season 25-8 while going 12-6 in the ACC, which was good enough to earn them second place in the conference. With the second seed in the ACC tournament, the Seminoles beat Virginia Tech but fell to Notre Dame in the semifinal game. This will be Florida State’s 15th appearance in the tournament.
FGCU won both their regular season and conference tournament championships in the Atlantic Sun Conference finishing with an overall record of 26-7. This will be FGCU’s third appearance in the big dance. They made it all the way to the Sweet Sixteen on a magical run in 2013 as a No. 15 seed
