With the runner-up for ACC Defensive Player of the Year on the bench, UVA is going to have a tough time in the second round.
Wilkins tried to play through his illness, but was quickly pulled and looked absolutely miserable on the bench.
Late in the first half, Wilkins went back into the locker room. He talked to reporters after the game and doesn’t think that he’ll be able to play in the second round.
Wilkins finished second in ACC Defensive Player of the Year voting and is third in the country in defensive plus-minus. Even though Virginia found a way to win their first round game without him, he’s a massive loss.
