Kansas extended its tournament opener streak to 11 consecutive wins when the Jayhawks absolutely dominated the 16th-seeded UC Davis Aggies in the first round, 100-62. Frank Mason III scored 22 points while Landen Lucas managed 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Jayhawks.
Michigan State was also dominant in its opener. The Spartans started slow against Miami, but a strong second period gave them their first-round victory, 78-58. Nick Ward and Miles Bridges were excellent for the Spartans, putting up 19 and 18 points in the contest, respectively.
The Spartans are a dangerous team for being a ninth seed. Many consider them to be Final Four material, but here they are facing off in what could be the most exciting matchup of the tournament thus far. Both teams are high-energy squads, and both will be feeling confident going into the game.
