Missed dunks are infecting the NCAA tournament in spectacular fashion

IT JUST KEEPS HAPPENING.

Josh Jackson is among the most talented and athletic players in the country right now, and last week his Kansas Jayhawks faced off against Miles Bridges and the Michigan State Spartans. Early in the first half, Jackson attacked the rim for a dunk and the rim bit back. Kansas won, but the missed dunk had to sting.

The Kansas standout is not alone in this year’s Big Dance, though. In fact, getting rim checked has emerged as something of a trend in this year’s tournament.

Here’s Jordan Bell of Oregon:

Amir Coffey of Minnesota failed spectacularly on March Madness’ opening day:

As did Florida Gulf Coast’s Brandon Goodwin:

And Donte DiVincenzo, who can’t dunk but sure as hell will keep trying:

And Jaylen Johnson of Louisville on Friday:

And Desi Rodriguez of Seton Hall:

And Chris Silva of South Carolina:

And Anas Mahmoud of Louisville on Sunday:

And Kamar Baldwin of Butler in the Sweet 16 round:

The rim-check should be the official unofficial highlight of the Big Dance’s “One Shining Moment” montage, and it’ll be something to monitor as the tournament wears on. Never stop trying.
