The second night of the NIT quarterfinals gets started on Wednesday evening, and there are a couple of good looking matchups on deck. First, the No. 2 Illinois Fighting Illini will take on the No. 4 UCF Knights from Central Florida’s home arena in Orlando.

The Knights are coming off of a 63-62 victory over No. 1 Illinois State on Monday evening. Knights guard B.J. Taylor scored 22 points, and had a couple of free throws with 1.3 seconds left to snap Illinois State’s 22-game home win streak. Illinois beat No. 6 Boise State handily on Monday, 71-56.

The other quarterfinal that will complete the NIT semifinal matchups is the No. 6 UT Arlington Mavericks vs. the No. 8 CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners. The Mavericks are coming off of a couple of wins, one over the higher-seeded No. 3 BYU Cougars, and an 85-69 victory over the No. 7 Akron Zips. CSU Bakersfield beat No. 1 Cal and No. 4 Colorado State in the first two rounds of the tournament.
