The Elite Eight round of the 2017 NCAA Women’s Tournament got underway on Saturday, and we had an upset in the first matchup. No. 10 Oregon upset No. 3 Maryland on Saturday afternoon, with the Ducks winning by a final score of 77-63. Oregon’s offense was led by Sabrina Ionescu, who finished with 21 points on the day.

The Terrapins were hoping to face No. 1 UConn in the next round. Maryland played UConn during the regular season and lost at home, 87-81. The Terrapins looked dominant in the first rounds of the tournament, winning 103-61 against the No. 14 Bucknell Bison and then beating the No. 4 West Virginia Mountaineers 83-56.

Oregon got past No. 7 Temple 71-70 in the First Round, and then beat No. 2 Duke 74-65 in the next round.

The Huskies, however, will be a tough matchup for the Ducks. UConn earned its 110th straight victory on Saturday, coasting past UCLA, 86-71. According to FiveThirtyEight this is now one of the longest winning streaks in collegiate sports history. Four Huskies scored at least 15 points, with Napheesa Collier’s 27 points and 14 rebounds leading the way.

Other games on Saturday include No. 1 South Carolina vs. No. 12 Quinnipiac and No.2 Oregon State vs. No. 3 Florida State.
