The first day of the College Insider Tournament Men’s Basketball Quarterfinals has gone by, and two teams are moving on to Wednesday’s Semifinals round.

The Saint Peter’s Peacocks took down the Texas State Bobcats, 49-44. Texas State’s Bobby Conley led all scorers with 13 points on four-of-eight shooting. But the Peacocks’ duo of Nick Griffin and Quadir Welton combined for 20 points while Cavon Baker chipped in with 10 off the bench.

The Furman Paladins (23-11) also handily defeated the Campbell Fighting Camels, 79-64. Paladins forward Kris Acox was near perfect, scoring 24 points on 11-of-12 shooting from the field. Acox also posted 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Furman had help from Devin Stibley, who finished with 20 points on six-of-12 shooting.

Furman was able to hold off an all-world effort from 5’9 Campbell guard Chris Clemons, who poured in 29 points albeit on 11-of-23 shooting.

Both Furman and Campbell will await the winner of Sunday’s Quarterfinals matchups. Liberty and UMBC take each other on at 2 p.m. ET, and Fort Wayne goes head-to-head with Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 3 p.m. ET.
