The first day of the College Insider Tournament Men’s Basketball Quarterfinals has gone by, and two teams are moving on to Wednesday’s Semifinals round.
CIT Tournament 2017 scores and bracket: Furman and Saint Peter’s move on to the semifinals
Furman pummeled Campbell by 15.


The Saint Peter’s Peacocks took down the Texas State Bobcats, 49-44. Texas State’s Bobby Conley led all scorers with 13 points on four-of-eight shooting. But the Peacocks’ duo of Nick Griffin and Quadir Welton combined for 20 points while Cavon Baker chipped in with 10 off the bench.
The Furman Paladins (23-11) also handily defeated the Campbell Fighting Camels, 79-64. Paladins forward Kris Acox was near perfect, scoring 24 points on 11-of-12 shooting from the field. Acox also posted 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Furman had help from Devin Stibley, who finished with 20 points on six-of-12 shooting.
Furman was able to hold off an all-world effort from 5’9 Campbell guard Chris Clemons, who poured in 29 points albeit on 11-of-23 shooting.
Both Furman and Campbell will await the winner of Sunday’s Quarterfinals matchups. Liberty and UMBC take each other on at 2 p.m. ET, and Fort Wayne goes head-to-head with Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 3 p.m. ET.
