UConn Huskies

The Huskies won in convincing fashion against Oregon. In fact, UConn knocked down shots early. Saniya Chong made her presence felt early by draining two consecutive three-pointers. With a 6-4 lead, the Huskies scored 17 straight points. Minutes later, Chong ended the offensive barrage with a layup that extended Conn’s lead to 23-4.

Oregon did show some fight, though, slicing the lead to 34-21 in the second quarter. But the Huskies increased their lead by scoring 15 of the final 18 points of the half. At that point, the game was over. Oregon couldn’t keep up with UConn’s potent offense. Napheesa Collier scored 28 points and Gabby Williams racked up 25 points.

The Huskies also played smothering defense. Oregon committed 22 turnovers, including 17 in the first half. UConn scored 38 points off those turnovers. You can expect the Huskies to play this way against Mississippi State.

Mississippi State

Speaking of the Lady Bulldogs, they beat Baylor, 94-85, in overtime to advance to their first ever Final Four appearance. Morgan William scored from all over the court. She knocked down difficult three-pointers and drove to the hoop for high percentage shots.

William finished with a game-high 41 points and shot over 50 percent from the field. Baylor and Mississippi State didn’t have any problems scoring the ball, as there were 24 lead changes in that game. However, William scored 12 points in overtime to help her team advance to the Final Four. Victoria Vivians chipped in with 24 points, and Teaira McCowan scored 10 points.

This game between UConn and Mississippi State should be a high-scoring affair, as both teams can score with ease.
