Rhode Island has earned itself the A-10 title under the coaching of Dan Hurley is in his fifth year. They defeated VCU, 70-63, for the championship and the bid into the NCAA Tournament.

The Rams have been led this season by star guard E.C. Matthews, who’s averaging 14.3 points per game after missing the entire 2015-16 season with a torn ACL. They have an excellent big man in Hassan Martin, who is averaging 13.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

The format

The four lowest seeds (Saint Louis, Massachusetts, Saint Joseph’s, Duquesne) will each play in the tournament’s first round, while the top four seeds receive byes through the first two rounds. No. 8 La Salle and No. 9 Davidson will also play in the second round, along with No. 7 George Washington and No. 10 Fordham.
