Making the jump from Dayton to Indiana will make Archie Miller one of the highest-paid coaches in all of college basketball.

The former Dayton head coach is getting paid in Bloomington.


According to the Indianapolis Star, Miller’s contract at Indiana is for seven years and will pay him a minimum of $24 million. The deal will make Miller the highest-paid state employee in Indiana, and would have made him the eighth-highest-paid coach in college basketball had it been in place for the 2016-17 season.
Miller’s contract also includes a $25,000 bonus for making the NCAA tournament, as well as these added incentives:
>> $125,000 for a multiyear Academic Progress Rate score greater than or equal to 950.
>> $125,000 for any nonconference schedule that, when finalized, does not include more than one regular-season opponent with an RPI rating of 300 or above, with ratings determined by the previous season’s final number, per espn.com.
>> $125,000 for winning a regular-season Big Ten title, outright or shared.
>> $50,000 for winning the Big Ten tournament.
>> $25,000 for NCAA tournament qualification.
>> $25,000 for advancing to the NCAA tournament round of 32.
>> $35,000 for advancing to the Sweet 16.
>> $50,000 for advancing to the Elite Eight.
>> $125,000 for advancing to the Final Four.
>> $250,000 for winning a national championship.
>> $50,000 if Miller is voted Big Ten coach of the year, coaches or media.
>> $50,000 if Miller is named Naismith College Coach of the Year, Associated Press college basketball coach of the year or USA Today college basketball coach of the year.
Miller comes to Indiana after six seasons as the head coach at Dayton, where he compiled an overall record of 139-63. Miller led the Flyers to the NCAA tournament in each of the last four seasons, advancing all the way to the Elite Eight in 2014.
