Top recruit Mohamed Bamba’s brother alleges he accepted illegal benefits from booster. The NCAA has cleared him

The brother of five-star recruit and Texas commit Mohamed Bamba posted a Facebook video on June 29 to “expose” the illegal benefits Bamba received from a booster with ties to Michigan.

On Tuesday the NCAA cleared Bamba of any wrongdoing:

The Wolverines were one of the finalists in Bamba’s recruitment before he eventually chose to play for Shaka Smart’s Longhorns.

Ibrahim Johnson posted a 22-minute Facebook video detailing his family’s relationship with Greer Love, a financial advisor who reportedly bought Bamba a bed, took the family on vacations, and gave him $200 in cash per week.

“He’s not going to play this year in the NCAA because I reported him to the NCAA and I’m already going to meet with the NCAA,” Johnson said during his Facebook rant. “He’s not going to play this year, I’m not going to lie to you. I exposed that kid.”

Why did Johnson “turn in” Bamba? A rift started in the family after Johnson decided to attempt to become a sports agent to represent Bamba when he goes to the NBA. Bamba resisted the idea.

Bamba is projected as the No. 4 pick in the 2018 NBA draft in our initial mock. He was a consensus top-five recruit in the class of 2017

Hours before posting the video, Johnson posted this status update to Facebook:

Don’t ever let anyone, anything get in between you and your loved ones. I unknowingly let the devil around my family and he has torn my family into pieces. SMFH. He came and stole a child from his family. Brainwashed the kid and Took my little brother from me. All for a buck this guy named Greer Love came into my family divided us and took my little brother from me. Took my mothers yougest son and turned him into the devil. I want everyone to pray for Mo Bamba’s soul cause he has lost it.

Bamba is expected to replace NBA first-round draft pick Jarrett Allen at center in Texas’ starting lineup. We first profiled him back in 2015.
