Greg McDermott is staying at Creighton. Ohio State offered its head coaching job to McDermott on Wednesday night, but McDermott has opted to stay at Creighton. He made the announcement on Twitter:
Greg McDermott turned down Ohio State basketball’s head coaching job
Ohio State is still looking for a basketball coach.

McDermott has coached the Bluejays for the last seven years, compiling a 166-82 record and leading the program to four NCAA tournament appearances. Prior arriving at Creighton, McDermott also coached Northern Iowa to three NCAA tournament bids and spent four seasons at Iowa State.
McDermott said no to an Ohio State program that has struggled to compete in the Big Ten over the last two seasons. The Buckeyes finished just 17-15 last season, Thad Matta’s worst record over his 13 years at the school. McDermott will have his work cut out for him in recruiting as well, where Matta struggled over recent years.
Ohio State’s list of coaching candidates also includes Chicago Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg and Golden State Warriors assistant Mike Brown.
Ohio State’s job became open earlier this week when the program parted ways with Matta after 13 seasons on the job.
