Oregon State men’s basketball head coach Wayne Tinkle posted the following video on Twitter confirming that his team was unharmed following a likely terror attack in Barcelona on Thursday night.
Oregon State coach confirms basketball team is safe amidst Barcelona attack

Oregon State, along with Arizona, Tulane, and Clemson, was in the middle of an NCAA tour of Spain when the attack broke out in the city. All four teams have been accounted for, and everyone is safe — according to team sources.
As many as 13 people may have died in the attack, which took place on a busy street in the city, shortly before 5 p.m. local time. A driver crashed a van into pedestrians near Las Ramblas, a popular area for foot traffic and tourism in the city.
In the video Tinkle explains the team was having its pregame meal inside the hotel when the attack occurred. The team had a view on Las Ramblas, and saw what occurred, but Tinkle said the team will not take any media requests for an interview, explaining that he’s “Not comfortable doing those,” and saying:
“I know people back home are concerned, but I don’t think they understand the gravity of what occurred here today.”
Tinkle noted that not every Oregon State player and staff member attended the pregame meal, but said they had been in contact with the members to ensure their safety.
