Brad Calipari is a walk-on sophomore guard at Kentucky. You might also know him as John Calipari’s son. Walk-ons are not supposed to get real minutes at a place like Kentucky — a team that currently boasts eight five-star recruits on the roster — yet somehow Brad Calipari keeps finding a way on the court.
Brad Calipari is getting real playing time and Kentucky fans are freaking out
A walk-on getting minutes at Kentucky? Believe it.

Calipari played first-half minutes against Texas A&M earlier this month. Now he’s playing against South Carolina — logging four minutes in Tuesday night’s first half.
Calipari is getting run for two reasons:
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander picked up his third foul before halftime.
- Kentucky doesn’t have much guard depth, especially with Quade Green and Jemarl Baker out with injuries.
That is how Brad Calipari found himself on the court in the first half of an SEC game again. Kentucky fans weren’t exactly pleased about it:
Don’t let the haters get you down, Brad. Earned, not given.
