The top three teams held steady this week in the new AP Top 25 as Villanova, Virginia, and Purdue all continued their winning ways. After a huge week that saw them beat up on then-No. 18 Clemson, 61-36, and take down No. 4 Duke at Cameron Indoor, the Virginia Cavaliers (20-1, 9-0 ACC) earned 17 first-place votes, their most so far this season. Purdue (21-2, 10-0 Big Ten) picked up one first-place vote as well.

Duke held steady after the 65-63 loss to Virginia, remaining in the No. 4 spot. Michigan State jumped up one spot to No. 5 after executing a comeback on the road against Maryland. Xavier, Kansas, Cincinnati, Arizona, and Texas Tech round out the top 10.
Kentucky spent just one week out of the rankings but jumped back in at No. 21 thanks to a come-from-behind victory at West Virginia. The Mountaineers, who led the Wildcats in Morgantown by 17 with 17 minutes to play, have now lost four of their last five and fell eight spots to No. 15 in this week’s poll.
The ACC, Big Ten, SEC, and Big 12 all had four teams each in this week’s Top 25. Only Nevada fell out of the rankings this week.
