Minnesota basketball star Reggie Lynch is facing a suspension and ban from campus until 2020 after being found responsible for violating the school’s sexual misconduct policy in April of 2016, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Minnesota’s Reggie Lynch faces suspension, campus ban over alleged sexual assault
The suspension would take effect on Tuesday if Lynch does not appeal.

Lynch’s suspension from the team will begin on Tuesday unless he decides to appeal. The school’s Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action office found him responsible for an incident that happened at his dorm room after it began investigating the case last fall.
This is not Lynch’s first incident of this nature. He was arrested in May of 2016 on suspicion of sexual assault at a campus apartment. A county attorney declined to press charges because of insufficient evidence, and Lynch was later cleared.
Lynch has been one of Minnesota’s top players since transferring from Illinois State and sitting out the 2015-16 season. He was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year last season and helped captain the Gophers’ turnaround from an eight-win team in 2016 to a 24-win team in 2017 that reached the NCAA tournament as a No. 5 seed.
Lynch is averaging 10.1 points, eight rebounds, and 4.1 blocks per game this season. Minnesota is 13-3 overall.
