ESPN has made a lot of people mad by putting Trae Young’s stat line on the screen for the majority of the game whenever Oklahoma is playing on the network.

This is true when Young is having a great game and also true when he’s having an off night. We saw ESPN give similar attention to Ben Simmons a couple years back, and guess what: people got mad then, too.
It’s an understandable response to the network’s attempt at star making.
ESPN is taking it even further on Tuesday. They’re showing Trae Young’s stat line during a game between Kansas and Iowa State on ESPN2:
They’re also showing it during a game between Pitt and BC on ESPN News:
Trae Young is awesome, but this is becoming a little much. But in the network’s defense: it’s hard to earnestly cover a Pitt game at this point.
