Record temperatures and hockey ice are to blame. The game will resume on Thursday at noon.

A game between Seton Hall and Providence was suspended on Wednesday night because of condensation on the floor at the Friars’ Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Seton Hall was leading Providence 56-47 with 13:03 remaining when the game was suspended.

The conditions were deemed “unplayable” and the game will be made up tomorrow at noon at Providence’s Alumni Hall.

The last time there was a game at Alumni Hall? 1971.

Why was there so much condensation?

The ice under the court used for hockey games combined with unseasonably warm temperatures in Rhode Island are to blame for the conditions.

Temperatures reached 70 degrees in the area this afternoon with 92 percent humidity. It was a record high for the area.

The Dunkin’ Donuts center is home to two hockey teams: the Friars and the Providence Bruins, who are an AHL club.

This is a tough blow for Seton Hall

The Pirates appeared to be pulling away in the second half. Sophomore guard Myles Powell already had 16 points, while Khadeen Carrington and Angel Delgado each had 11 points.

This would be a quality Quadrant 1 road win for Seton Hall, as Providence is ranked No. 35 in the RPI.
