It was a wild Wednesday night in college basketball with both No. 1 Villanova and No. 3 Purdue taking unexpected losses in conference play. However, those major conference upsets weren’t the only crazy things that happened in the collegiate circuit.
Central Arkansas’ Hayden Koval posts unique triple-double
The big man didn’t need an assist to make school history.

Over in the Southland Conference, Central Arkansas defeated lowly Houston Baptist 100-80. If you’re asking yourself why that result is of any significance, just take a look at the box score. You’ll see that the Bears got a herculean effort from freshman center Hayden Koval, who posted a triple-double consisting of 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 blocks.
With this triple-double, Koval joins fellow freshman teammate DeAndre Jones and NBA great Scottie Pippen as the only players in Central Arkansas history to achieve the feat.
Obviously, what separates this feat from others like it is that the 7’0 big man from Prosper, Texas messed around and got a triple-double without an assist. Russell Westbrook would be proud of Koval’s performance against Houston Baptist.
Central Arkansas may not be having the best season, but for one night it deserves at least a little bit of shine for Koval’s unique performance.
