The Providence Friars already slayed one giant in New York City and on Saturday will look to topple another, facing the Villanova Wildcats in the 2018 Big East Tournament championship game at Madison Square Garden (6:30 p.m. ET, Fox).

Providence knocked off conference top seed Xavier on Friday night, winning 75-72 in an overtime thriller thanks to 17 points from both Rodney Bullock and Alpha Diallo in the semifinal win. The Friars overcame a 17-point deficit in that game to beat the nation’s No. 3 team.

Villanova, the No. seed in the conference and ranked No. 2 in the nation, has cruised to the tournament finals with a pair of blowouts, dispatching Marquette 94-70 on Thursday night followed by an 87-68 crushing of Butler on Friday.

The Wildcats and Friars split their two regular season meetings, each winning at home.

Gus Johnson, Jim Jackson and Lisa Byington will call Saturday night’s action for Fox, with online streaming available through Fox Sports Go.
