UConn has found its next head coach. Dan Hurley, who just led Rhode Island to the second round of the NCAA tournament, will take over the Huskies with a new six-year contract, according to Jeff Goodman of ESPN. UConn site A Dime Back first reported the expected hire late Wednesday night.

Hurley chose UConn over a more lucrative deal from Pitt. Rhode Island also made an attempt to keep Hurley with a new contract. He capped his six seasons with the Rams by leading back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances, winning a combined 51 games the last two seasons.
Hurley replaces Kevin Ollie at UConn, who was fired just four years after winning a national title behind Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright in 2014. UConn has made only one NCAA tournament appearance since, and has finished under .500 the last two seasons.
The 45-year-old Hurley is the brother of Arizona State coach and former Duke star Bobby Hurley, and the son of Bob Hurley Sr., who enjoyed a legendary high school coaching career in New Jersey.
Dan Hurley finished with a 113-82 record during his time at Rhode Island.
