Kansas threw a half-court alley-oop to get its Sweet 16 game started right

Devonte’ Graham assisted from way out.

No. 1 Kansas is taking on No. 5 Clemson in Friday’s Sweet 16 round in Omaha, Neb., and the Jayhawks have maintained a continuous lead from the opening tip. Kansas holds talent and athleticism advantages over Clemson up and down their roster, but one shouldn’t necessarily overlook these Tigers just yet.

In the opening frame of Friday’s showdown and holding a 23-21 lead, Devonte’ Graham brought the ball up the floor and let fly an alley-oop attempt from half court. That offering was corralled on the other end by Silvio de Sousa, who slammed it down over hapless Mark Donnal.

De Sousa’s throwdown is all the more disrespectful because he was in high school as recently as last December. He’s a midseason addition, and his first game as a Jayhawk was against Kansas State on Jan. 13, 2018. Just no one tell Mark Donnal.
