They say no good deed goes unpunished. After Wednesday, Colorado head coach Tad Boyle would have to agree.
Colorado coach Tad Boyle injured trying to break up on-court skirmish
Coaches aren’t immune from March Madness injuries.

In the waning seconds of the Buffaloes’ 97-85 win over Arizona State in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament, Colorado’s Tyler Bey avoided a shot-clock violation by finishing off an alley-oop. Sun Devils star Tra Holder took extreme exception to this, and charged at Bey.
A skirmish followed, forcing Boyle to leave the Colorado bench with the intention of breaking it up. Instead, he injured himself.
Boyle said during his postgame press conference that he believes the injury is a torn or strained calf muscle.
“It felt like somebody hit me with a golf ball or shotgun there as I ran out,” Boyle said. “So, I don’t know what happened. But it doesn’t feel too good.”
Holder was ejected from the game, while Colorado’s George King and ASU’s De’Quon Lake were issued technical fouls. The Buffaloes will face Arizona on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
