John Calipari strikes again on the recruiting trail.

Montgomery is ranked as the No. 16 prospect in the country by ESPN. He was originally committed to Auburn before deciding to reopen his recruitment following the Tigers’ role in the FBI investigation.
Montgomery joins a recruiting class that also includes 5-star wings Keldon Johnson and Tyler Herro and point guard Immanuel Quickley. The Wildcats are projected to lose Kevin Knox and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to the NBA, but could return everyone else from last season’s Sweet 16 team.
Montgomery has an inside-out game known for his powerful finishing ability inside paired with the ability to step away from the basket and hit a jump shot. The lefty is a fluid athlete and a good passer who needs to continue to play with a high motor to reach his ceiling.
He joins a Kentucky front court next season that should also include P.J. Washington, Wenyen Gabriel, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Sacha Killeya-Jones.
