The last uncommitted five-star recruit in the class of 2018 is finally off the board. Jordan Brown, a 6’10 big man out of California, committed to Nevada on Friday morning.

Brown is ranked as the No. 11 player in his class by Rivals. He was a McDonald’s All-American and played for the U.S. team in the Nike Hoop Summit.

Cal was thought to be the leader for Brown throughout much of his recruitment. This is possibly the biggest recruiting win in program history for the Wolf Pack.

Nevada reached the Sweet 16 last season and will likely be a top-10 team in the preseason polls if Caleb and Cody Martin decide to return school. Both players are currently testing the waters of the NBA draft without an agent.

Brown will give Nevada the type of true big man it lacked last season. He’s a dependable inside scorer who can finish in the post or hit a mid-range jump shot. He isn’t considered an elite rim protector, but his size alone will help a Nevada defense that ranked No. 108 in the country in efficiency last season, per KenPom.

Jordan Brown highlights

Brown’s game is more functional than flashy. He doesn’t have the most exciting mixtape out there, but he’ll give Nevada an interior presence with crafty scoring ability who should be able to contribute right away.

If the Martin twins come back, Nevada is going to be a trendy preseason Final Four pick.
