Villanova basketball has won two national championships in the last three years. The Wildcats are poised to continue their stay atop college basketball after signing five-star guard Bryan Antoine on Tuesday, who chose the Wildcats over Duke, Kentucky, and Florida.
Villanova lands 5-star guard Bryan Antoine, showing Jay Wright can recruit one-and-dones, too
The Wildcats are here to stay atop the college basketball hierarchy.

Antoine is the highest-rated recruit of the Jay Wright era, according to 247 Sports. Antoine is ranked No. 11 in his class by the scouting service, beating out Jalen Brunson (No. 22 in the class of 2015) and Omari Spellman (No. 20 in 2016).
Antoine is a 6’5 bucket-getter out of New Jersey. He’s a long, athletic combo guard who is a threat to score off the dribble or on catch-and-shoot opportunities. He’s projected by multiple outlets as a one-and-done lottery pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Antoine has spent his high school years playing alongside Scottie Lewis, another five-star guard in the class of 2019, both at the Ranney School and on the Under Armour Circuit for Team Rio. Lewis is reportedly choosing between Villanova, Kentucky, Florida, and Duke.
Villanova won the national championship last season on the strength of a veteran team buoyed by six redshirt players on the roster. Landing a commitment from Antoine shows Jay Wright can recruit one-and-dones, too. Villanova should have a strong veteran core around Antoine when he arrives on campus a year from now, led by point guard Jahvon Quinerly and wing Cole Swider.
Antoine is Villanova’s third commit in the 2019 class, following wing Justin Moore (No. 47 overall, per 247) and big Eric Dixon (No. 62 overall).
Bryan Antoine mixtape highlights
Antoine projects as an instant starter at the two for Villanova a year from now. He’s a strong and long scoring guard who has been considered one of the top recruits in his class since early in his high school days.
This is a legitimate blue chip prospect and more proof that Villanova’s recent success isn’t a novelty. The Wildcats are built to be a legitimate power for years to come under Wright.
