The opening round of the 2022 men’s NCAA tournament delivered once again. The first two days of the tournament will filled with close, competitive games and headlined by some dramatic upsets. As we head into the round of 32, let’s reset the tournament bracket and look ahead at what’s to come.

No. 15 seed Saint Peter’s knocked off No. 2 seed Kentucky in one of the biggest upsets in tournament history. Now the Peacocks face No. 7 seed Murray State for a spot in the Sweet 16 after the Racers beat No. 10 seed San Francisco in a Thursday night thriller. Could this be the second straight year a No. 15 seed makes the Sweet 16? Don’t forget that Oral Roberts did it last year.

The marquee matchup of Saturday’s slate is also the final game of the night. No. 1 seed Gonzaga faces No. 9 seed Memphis in what could be a difficult test for a Bulldogs team that entered the tournament as the top overall seed. We can’t wait to see the showdown of elite freshmen in the front court when Chet Holmgren takes on Jalen Duren. Head coach Penny Hardaway is making his first NCAA tournament appearances, and knocking off the Zags to reach the Sweet 16 would qualify as a program-changing win.

No. 8 seed North Carolina looked dominant in blowing out Marquette in round one. The Tar Heels had a down year by their standards in their first year without Roy Williams, but finding a way to beat No. 1 seed Baylor, the defending national champions, would change everything for Hubert Davis’ debut season.

UCLA vs. Saint Mary’s and Tennessee vs. Michigan will also be fun games on Saturday’s schedule.

Here’s the schedule going into the weekend, featuring game times and TV info.
