Alabama Recruit Travell Dixon, Social Media Master And #TeamCake
Four-star Arizona cornerback Travell Dixon committed to Alabama over FSU and others Wednesday night, putting on quite a Twitter performance in the process. After revealing he’d picked up 1,000 sudden followers and declaring he’d have a post-announcement “civil Q & A session” on Ustream*, Dixon toyed with hundreds and hundreds of grown men for a few more moments:

Score one for Kevin Sumlin and Texas A&M, as JUCO cornerback Otis Jacobs has switched his commitment back to the Aggies, less than a week after he switched to the Tennessee Volunteers. The 6-foot-1, 187-pound JUCO cornerback from Gulf Coast Community College in Mississippi had been committed to Texas A&M.
Jacobs has three years to play two seasons, so there is some chance he could take a redshirt. That’s unlikely, however, as JUCO players rarely commit to a school at which they won’t play immediately.

While high school recruits must wait until Feb. 1 to sign with a school, junior college recruits enrolling for the spring semester are able to sign today. And there should be a lot of junior college signings, both today, and during the next few weeks.
Recruits go to a junior college for any number of reasons. The primary reason is academics. Some kids lack the core classes coming out of high school. Others are unable to earn a qualifying test score.
