Which SEC School Will Land Recruit Jeremy Liggins?

Jumbo athlete/quarterback Jeremy Liggins has many options.

After an amazing senior season, recruit Jeremy Liggins is seeing his recruitment pick up. The QB/athlete out of Lafayette High School (Ofxord, MS) holds offers from more than 20 schools, including five of the SEC’s best.

Liggins is perhaps the most interesting prospect in this recruiting cycle. At 6’3” and 270 pounds, Liggins plays quarterback for his high school. Some schools are recruiting him there, while others are understandably wanting him to move to defensive line or tight end. Liggins has excellent athleticism for a recruit of his size, and all major recruiting services rate him as four stars.

One of the schools that is recruiting Liggins at his preferred position of quarterback is Ole Miss. Liggins took his official visit to Oxford last weekend and met with coach Hugh Freeze. He told the Oxford Eagle that the visit went well:

Liggins, who accounted for 39 touchdowns as a senior and 114 during his three-year varsity career, said he likes the spread offense that Freeze will employ at Ole Miss. Liggins said it gives him the flexibility to both run and pass like he was used to doing for the Commodores.

“It’s a mixture. There is an option to run which is a good thing,” Liggins said about the offense. “I really like their coaching staff. It was my first chance to meet them all and they were all nice.”

What’s next for Liggins? A busy travel schedule.

The jumbo athlete visited Auburn in November, but still has three official visits remaining. This weekend he’ll trip to Mississippi State. After seeing the Bulldogs he’ll visit Tuscaloosa on January 20th to see the national champions. Then Liggins is off to LSU on the 27th. He’s slated to decide on the evening of January 30th.
