With Alabama extremely tight on scholarships, it’s shaping up to be a Peach State battle for uncommitted defensive end Dalvin Tomlinson, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

“[UGA assistant Bryan McClendon] spoke to Dalvin for a good hour,” Henry County coach Mike Rozier said, “and when coach McClendon came out, he said ‘We’re doing something different. The visit is going to be different. It’s going to be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday because of wrestling on the weekend.’ Dalvin has missed a lot of wrestling because of football, and he wants to win that third state title, so Georgia is going to do something special with him for the official visit.”

“Georgia has been involved with Dalvin for a long time; I heard from [Mark Richt] a lot during the season,” Rozier said. “I think I’m speaking for Dalvin but I think it’s coming down to those three schools – Georgia Tech, Alabama and Georgia. I’ve been talking to Dalvin about that, and he said he still hasn’t made up his mind about where he’s going to sign. I guess he’s going to wait on the Georgia visit and go from there.”

Tomlinson is not only one of the top players in Georgia, but one of the top defensive ends in the country. At 6’3” and 270 pounds, he is uniquely suited to play in the 3-4 defense run by his three top suitors -- Georgia Tech, Georgia and Alabama. Tomlinson is rated four stars by most of the major recruiting services.

Tomlinson is a special prospect. He is the rare top defensive line prospect to also be recruited by schools in the Ivy League, holding a 3.9 GPA. He also plays trumpet, the snare drum, and other instruments. Tomlinson is also a two-time defending state champion wrestler, and his great balance is on display in his football film for Henry County High School.

Tomlinson has already visited Georgia Tech and Alabama. He may visit Georgia before signing day.
