Tracy Howard Staying In Florida, But Could He End Up At Miami?

Tracy Howard will decide between Florida, Florida State and Miami on National Signing Day (February 1st).

Tracy Howard is one of the top cornerback recruits in the country. Out of Mirimar High School (Fla.), Howard is rated four or five stars by most of the major recruiting services. He stands 5’11”, weighs in at 180 pounds, and has more than held his own against some of the top competition in the country. Howard holds more than 30 offers from BCS conference schools.

Howard has visited Florida State and Florida on many occasions. Howard visited Florida over the weekend, and the general sentiment on Twitter is that he was having a good time. Howard has long been comfortable with Florida’s coaching staff and many recruiting insiders believe he will choose the Gators on National Signing Day (February 1st).

But the biggest news of the week, per Cane Sport, is that Howard will take his final official visit to the Miami Hurricanes. This was a bit of a shock, as the Howard camp had maintained that Miami was not being seriously considered. Credit Al Golden and the Miami coaching staff for their persistence in pursuing Howard. Even with the visit, it would be a huge shock if Howard selected Miami. Miami's main pitch to Howard will be playing time. It's likely he would start for Miami the moment he steps on campus.

Howard was also recently named the national player of the week by Sports Illustrated. Howard had this to say about facing Dorial Green-Beckham, the top receiver commitment in the country:

“It was fun, I competed and [Dorial is] a great player, but I showed he wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle.”
