Barry J. Sanders, son of the legendary Barry Sanders, is expected to announce at the 2012 U.S. Army All-America Bowl that he'll play for the Stanford Cardinal, according to the Oklahoman's Jason Kersey. Sanders plays for Oklahoma City's Heritage Hall. He held offers from Alabama, Florida State, Oklahoma State, Stanford, and 30 other BCS schools.

Sanders isn’t quite the player that his dad was, but he’s still pretty good. Arguably the top player in Oklahoma, Sanders is widely considered one of the best 15 running backs in the country.

At 5’10.5” and 190 pounds, he has a good build for a back. Sanders is very smooth and has a lot of moves, but he also shows a good understanding of how to run within a blocking scheme. He is also quite fast, and is rarely caught once he breaks into the second level of the defense.

Can Sanders be an every down back? Only time will tell. He’ll need to learn to block and become a better receiver.

This would be an excellent pickup for Stanford, if the report is accurate.
