Jordan Diggs, one of the more physical safeties in the country, has committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Diggs stars for Island Coast High School (Cape Coral, Fla.), but previously played for Bishop Verot (Fort Myers, Fla.). Diggs also held offers from Michigan State, Nebraska, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
Jordan Diggs Commits To South Carolina Gamecocks
Jordan Diggs commits to Steve Spurrier’s Gamecocks.
At 6’0” and 200 pounds, Diggs packs a punch from his safety position. The competition he faces in high school is not to the standards typically seen of a Florida prospect, but he is still a quality safety. He’ll need to be a zone defender, as he likely won’t be able to stick with college receivers in man-to-man defense.
South Carolina runs a lot of 4-2-5 formation defense, which could give Diggs a chance to play early.
Diggs is the second major defensive back commitment for South Carolina this week, joining Chaz Elder, who chose the ‘Cocks on Thursday night during the Under Armour All-America Game.
