Kameron Miles decommits from Tennessee, looks headed to Texas A&M

The writing appeared to be on the wall for the Vols after a top Texas safety received a game-changing offer recently.

Brendan Maloney-US PRESSWIRE

When 2013 West Mesquite (TX) safety Kameron Miles received an offer from his home-state Texas A&M Aggies last week, it seemed like it was only going to be a matter of time before he decommitted from the Tennessee Volunteers, to whom he had made a pledge in late May.

At the time, Miles said that he was “really considering” the Aggies, adding that he has “a lot of interest” in head coach Kevin Sumliln’s team. It appears that the monumental victory over Alabama last weekend didn’t hurt A&M either.

On Wednesday evening, news broke from multiple outlets that the consensus four-star prospect known for his physical play had decommitted from Tennessee.

The A&M staff has been trying to get Miles in for a visit since extending the offer roughly 10 days ago, but it may not take that long for Miles to switch his pledge.

Here’s what the Army All-American had to say to ESPN’s Damon Sayles after his decision to part ways ($) with the Vols:

When I got that offer from A&M, I was excited. I just felt like it gave me another opportunity to look at another school that’s got a new coach and a program that’s going in the right direction. Coach [Kevin] Sumlin’s a real cool coach.

Right now, it appears that Sumlin will have a chance to drop his trademark “yessir” and add a 30th member to the massive 2013 Aggie recruiting class, which already has two safeties committed.
