    Marcell Harris signs with Florida

    Marcell Harris, a safety prospect out of Dr. Phillips High School (FL), signed with the Florida Gators. Harris considered Texas and Florida State, among others, and he kept his announcement interesting back in November. He had some help from his brother, who came to the announcement wearing gear from three different schools.

    Harris is one of the top prospects in the class of 2013 -- Rivals considers him the eighth-best safety in the nation and No. 67 overall player. He is rated similarly by 247Sports.

    Harris’ father played for Florida in the 1990s, and now Marcell will follow in his footsteps.

    My take: Harris has the body of a linebacker, and I initially thought that would be his eventual position. But having had the chance to see him several times over the summer, and again this season, Harris has changed my mind. He has shown the ability to play safety in the right system at the collegiate level. Florida will be able to use him in a way that hides his weaknesses.

    Originally set to make his decision on November 16th, 2013 Orlando (FL) Dr. Phillips safety Marcell Harris has decided to push back his decision date ($), even though he has already made visits to each of his four finalists this fall.

    Not really. He just wants to announce his decision on the ESPNU Recruiting Nation show, which will go down on November 29th between 5 and 6 pm EST.
