Devin Lauderdale decommits from Texas Tech

The Red Raiders have lost one of two four-star prospects in the 2013 class.

Reese Strickland-US PRESSWIRE

The fallout from the departure of Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville to Auburn continued on Tuesday morning with the news that Houston (TX) Bellaire wide receiver Devin Lauderdale has re-opened his recruitment, as broken by 247Sports.

Dallas (TX) Skyline cornerback Will Barrows had already decommitted, while Lauderdale indicated that he was “wavering” before deciding to officially decommit. He is no longer considering the Red Raiders.

A consensus three-star prospect rated as a four star by 247Sports, the 5-10, 170-pounder is one of the most dynamic playmakers with the ball in his hands in the state of Texas, excelling particularly on kickoff and punt returns. Lauderdale is now considering Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and Cal, though he would also have interest in Notre Dame and Alabama were they to extend offers.

The only visit currently scheduled for Lauderdale is a trip to Oklahoma State in January. A word of kindness to Lauderdale if he plans on making the drive to Stillwater -- please use a GPS.

And it would certainly behoove Texas Tech to find another head coach before more prospects decide to explore other options, as quarterback commit Davis Webb of Prosper (TX) is now looking around and there are certainly some schools out there who would be interested in swiping top-rated commit Maurice Porter, a massive four-star offensive tackle from Missouri City (TX) Marshall.
