Deandre “Moose” Johnson Commits To Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia lands a big in-state prospect.

Deandre Johnson, aka "Moose," has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs, according to multiple reports. Johnson is a massive defensive tackle prospecting standing 6'3 and weighing in at 310 pounds. He stars for Newnan (Ga.) Northgate High School. Johnson also holds offers from Duke, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee and North Carolina.

It’s no secret that Georgia wants to have one of the biggest defenses in the country under 3-4 whiz Todd Grantham. And Johnson certainly fits that bill, be it at nose guard or one of the five-technique end positions (head up on the offensive tackle). Johnson has yet to be evaluated by most recruiting services, and his highlight tape is sped up so much that it is difficult to evaluate his true skill.

Another thing about Johnson that ‘Dawg fans will like is his academics. Offers from Duke and Georgia Tech aren’t given out to dummies, and defensive linemen often struggle with academics, so Johnson shouldn’t have any trouble qualifying.

Georgia now has seven commitments in the class of 2013, including four high school players from the state and two junior college recruits who are originally from Georgia.
