Top Underclassmen Football Recruits At Orlando Nike Camp

The Orlando Nike Camp featured many top young stars.

The recent Orlando Nike Football Training Camp (NFTC) brought out many of the top stars in the state. Previously, I profiled the top members of the class of 2013. Now the attention turns to the underclassmen.

A pair of 2014 offensive linemen stood out in Tampa Catholic’s Corey Martinez and Tarpon Springs (Fla.) East Lake’s Mason Cole. Martinez is 6’4 and 290 pounds, and he physically looks college ready. He projects as a guard at the college level, and showed good strength in one-on-ones and drills. Martinez already claims an offer from USF.

Mason Cole is much smaller than Martinez at 6’4 and 266 pounds, but he has better feet. Cole moved well and has excellent body control for a player of his age and size. If Cole continues to grow, he could project at tackle in college. In addition to USF, Cole also claims an offer from Florida State.

I expect both Martinez and Cole to be high-level BCS recruits.

Jacob Park, a 6’4, 200 pound quarterback out of Goose Creek (SC) Stratford High School was the most impressive quarterback among the underclassmen. A member of the class of 2014, Park threw a nice ball with good velocity. His throws were catchable, and his footwork looked decent in limited reps. I expect Park to be one of the more heavily sought after recruits at the quarterback position next year.

An impressive tight end in the class of 2014 was Milan Richard of Savannah (Ga.) Calvary Day School. RIchard stands 6’2 and weighs in at 226 pounds, and is a nephew of Herschel Walker. Richard showed good speed and length in his pass routes, and should be a high level BCS recruit. I’ll have a feature interview with Richard later this week.

Two underclassmen running backs also impressed. Courtney Allen of Bradenton (Fla.) Southeast showed outstanding quickness and change of direction. Allen is only 5’7 and 188 pounds, but he was uncoverable in one-on-ones. He’ll likely never be a feature back at the BCS level, but some spread team will be very happy to land Allen.

The other impressive underclassman runner was Jacques Patrick, who I’ve profiled before. Patrick is an impressive 6’2, 200-pound runner in the class of 2015 from Orlando (Fla.) Timber Creek High School. Patrick holds offers from Florida, Florida State and Auburn. Patrick may not be long for the running back position if he keeps growing.

While we’re here, let’s watch some college football videos from SB Nation’s new YouTube channel together:
