The Kansas State spring game over the weekend has paid off on the recruiting trail, as the Wildcats added a fourth commitment to the 2013 class in Klein Collins (TX) offensive lineman Chance Allen, a 6-5, 300-pound prospect who becomes the first pledge along the line for Bill Snyder and company, according to multiple reports.

With offers from Kansas and Lamar, Allen is unranked by both Rivals and Scout, but was receiving interest from several other schools, including Rice, Tulsa, and Oklahoma.

Here’s what Allen told Scout about his commitment ($):

The visit went so well I decided to commit. I just love the town of Manhattan. The campus there is beautiful. The coaching staff is great. Out of all of the colleges I’ve visited there’s had more of a family feeling, and that’s what I was looking for. They were the most welcoming. I gave my commitment to Coach Dimel, my recruiter, and Coach Dickey. They were both ecstatic when I told them.

Allen also told Scout that the Wildcat coaches see him as a potential tackle in college, though some project Allen to play guard. While the big Houston-area product has the prototypical size to play outside at tackle, most prospects end up projected inside in college because they don’t have the feet in pass protection to keep their quarterback clean.
