Demar Dorsey To Play For Hawaii In 2012, Sources Tell SBNation.com

Hawaii adds a top safety with a checkered past.

There is yet another stop on the long journey that is the football career of Demar Dorsey, as the talented safety will play for Hawaii this season, sources told SB Nation. Dorsey, a former elite safety recruit from Lauderdale Lakes (Fla.) Boyd Anderson High School has been in and out of the news for the last two years despite never stepping on the field for an FBS team. Dorsey was rated four or five stars out of high school, depending on the service. And his recruitment was a circus.

Dorsey originally committed to the Gators, and was quite showy about his love for Gainesville during the Under Armour All America Game. He then decommitted from the Gators, visited West Virginia, USC, Florida State and Michigan, told sources he would commit to Florida State, and then committed to the Michigan Wolverines.

That didn’t work out too well for Dorsey, as Michigan, despite accepting his commitment, denied his admittance. It may have had something to do with Dorsey’s three felony charges. He then attempted to go to Louisville, but Louisville would not admit him due to his grades.

Dorsey then ended up at Grand Rapids Community College, where he played during the 2011 season before leaving.

At Hawaii, Dorsey will try to get his life back on track and play safety for the Warriors. He has tremendous speed and has filled out frame of late.
