The Texas Tech Red Raiders pillaged College of the Sequoias on Wednesday, picking up pledges from two defensive backs -- Stormy Butler and Darren Dotson, according to Brandon Huffman of Fox Sports.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have been working hard to fill a need at defensive back and made some progress in that respect on Wednesday.
The junior college transfers are the sixth and seventh commits for the Red Raiders in the 2013 class as Tommy Tuberville loads up on defensive backs, as four of the seven pledges are now from players who project to the defensive backfield.
Dotson is a 6-1, 195-pounder who played his prep football in Florida and had offers from Arizona State, Fresno State, Hawai’i, Houston, Iowa State, and South Florida. There does not appear to be any available film for Dotson, though his size suggests that he may be better suited for safety than cornerback at Texas Tech.
Listed at 6-0 and 193 pounds, Butler is listed as a cornerback on his Hudl video, but played a hybrid linebacker role for his junior college, where he showed off his ability as a physical tackler and his sideline-to-sideline range. Is he capable of playing cornerback? There’s some evidence that he has the speed and overall quickness to play there, but his sure tackling may make him more valuable at safety when he arrives in Lubbock.
The Red Raiders need defensive backs capable of contributing early and the coaching staff is clearly hoping that Dotson and Butler fit that bill.
