Will Derrick Henry Stick With Georgia Or Commit To Alabama?

Can Alabama flip one of Georgia’s top commitments, Derrick Henry?

There are two main questions surrounding top-recruit Derrick Henry:

  • Is running back really the best position for the 6’3, 240-pound Yulee (Fla.) High star?
  • Where will Henry play his college ball?

That the second question persists despite Henry being committed to the Georgia Bulldogs has fans in Athens up in arms.

Over the weekend, Henry visited the Alabama Crimson Tide. After the visit, Henry Tweeted the following:

I will make statement soon , After I talk it over with coaches & family .That doesn’t exactly sound like the words of a player solidly committed to Georgia. ESPN caught up with Henry ($) shortly after he finished his visit.

Alabama has two running back commitments for 2013, Tyren Jones and Altee Tenpenny, but that won’t affect Henry’s decision because he knows there’s going to be competition anywhere, and he will still have a role with the Tide if he goes there.“One thing you notice about Alabama is that everybody has a specific role,” Ramsay said. “With Derrick, I think he’s a little different back than those other two as far as when you have a lead, he can be a kid that can close the game for you, shorten the game for you and still have the breakaway speed to get you another couple touchdowns.”

Henry seems dead set on playing running back, so any school looking to sway him from Georgia must convince him that it wants him at running back and will not move him to tight end or defense.

Henry is a consensus four-star recruit and one of the top athletes in the country. With Alabama and Georgia firmly in the mix to land the top class in the country, Henry’s commitment could be the difference on National Signing Day.
