Dorian Johnson, an elite offensive tackle recruit, has committed to the Penn State Nittany Lions, according to SB Nation recruiting analyst Jeff Junstrom. Johnson is a consensus top-10 offensive line recruit nationally and is rated four or five-stars by the major recruiting services. Johnson holds offers from many of the top SEC and ACC teams in the country. He is a product of Belle Vernon (Pa.) High School.

Here’s an excerpt from SB Nation’s Black Shoe Diaries on the commitment:

Johnson, who lives less than three hours from State College, has been on campus a number of times over the past few years, but his visit this weekend sealed the deal, as he made the trip with family members (READ: mom, grandma), who gave their thumbs up. Johnson was down to Pitt and Penn State (and Ohio State and West Virginia) due to proximity to home, which led many to believe Pitt was in the driver’s seat. The Penn State staff tried their best to show Johnson a family atmosphere when he visited this weekend, and it worked.

Johnson has everything needed to eventually become an excellent college offensive tackle. At 6’6 and 280 pounds, he possesses decent size. More importantly, he isn’t sloppy and has the frame to add 30 or 40 pounds. And Johnson is quite athletic. He is also quite aggressive, which isn’t always a given with players who are much bigger than their competition.

Johnson is Penn State’s 12th commitment of the 2012 class and the fourth consensus top-100 player, joining tight end Adam Breneman, quarterback Christian Hackenberg and defensive lineman Greg Webb.
