Peter Kalambayi, a top linebacker recruit from Matthews (N.C.) Butler High School, committed to Stanford late Saturday while on an unofficial visit to Palo Alto. Kalambayi is a consensus top-20 linebacker nationally, and is rated four stars by the major services.
Stanford Continues National Recruiting With Commitment Of Linebacker Peter Kalambayi

From SB Nation’s Stanford site, Rule Of Tree:
Kalambayi, who had offers from more than 20 schools and was reportedly high on Clemson, committed to Stanford during an unofficial visit to the Farm and brings the Cardinal’s already impressive list of 2013 commitments to five.
Stanford’s 3-4 defense puts an emphasis on physical linebacker play, and Kalambayi fits the bill. He joins fellow talented linebacker recruits Isaac Savaiinaea and Doug Randolph.
Kalambayi has excellent size at 6’3 and 230 pounds. He will likely be able to carry 250 or more pounds after a few years in a college strength program. Stanford will probably use him as a pass rusher off the edge, as other teams were recruiting Kalambayi as a defensive end. He will likely not be used as a coverage backer, though he is not completely deficient in that area.
Stanford now has five recruits in the 2013 class, which while light on numbers is extremely high on quality.
